A Performance Evaluation of In-Memory Databases Operations in Session Initiation Protocol

Real-time communication has witnessed a dramatic increase in recent years user daily usage. In this domain, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is well-known protocol found to provide trusted services (voice or video) end users along with efficiency, scalability, and interoperability. Just like other Internet technology, SIP stores its related data databases predefined structure. recent, technologies have adopted the real advantages of in-memory as cache systems ensure fast database operations during real-time communication. Meanwhile, industry, there are several names that been implemented different structures (e.g., query types, structure, persistency, key/value size). However, limited resources poor recommendations on how select proper communications. This paper provides recommended efficient which most fitted servers by evaluating three types including Memcache, Redis, Local (OpenSIPS built-in). The evaluation conducted based experimental performance impact (store fetch) against server applying heavy load traffic through scenarios. To sum up, results show consumed less memory compared Memcached Redis for read write operations. While persistency was considered, Memcache preferable selection due 25.20 KB/s throughput 0.763 s call–response time.
